I've played dota for 14 years. Don't be me.

Seen this kind of post many, many times. Let me provide a counter narrative.

Dota has actually helped my career. Work for a big Fortune 500 company. Lost in giant sea of corporate types. Looking for new job within company after internship is over. Getting close to deadline to find permenant job or be let go. At potential employers desk and see rosh statue. Start talking with hiring manager about Dota. Connect on steam, play games together. Get hired. Still play several games with new boss every week. Boss more friend now than "boss." Layoffs come... not selected to be rlet go. Also put into development program for advancement.

TLDR: connect with boss over Dota "addiction." Got job, kept job, and given potential for promotion.
