IWF: No Russia in Rio

You are dealing with people who never placed within the top 5 in any IWF sanctioned weightlifting competition, and therefore do not know the insane pressure that most of these international lifters face. Olympic weightlifting is their livelihood, it is not a hobby, they are not amateurs calling themselves athletes posting form checks on this forum, adding little footnotes next to their names stating their personal best at USAW sanctioned competitions, and then go back to their real jobs/careers where they earn their money to eat and pay rent. A lot of these guys come from the lower rungs of the economic ladder. Weightlifting provided them a way out from poverty, and a means to put bread on the table. You can look at the Colombian team for example all their lifters are from the most dangerous and impoverish areas of Colombia. Now put yourself in their shoes, and you can imagine the astronomical pressure they feel to medal. And then you can begin to see why many of the top athletes dope. I am not faulting anyone here but most of the people crying for a cleaner sport, are first world citizens who haven't had the "privilege" of having to live in Barranquilla, Colombia or having to grow up in the favelas of Brazil, and want to cure the problem in the most naive way possible. What the sport needs is more of a systematic re-structuring, but this forum is not the place to talk about it, doping is but a mere effect of a deeper problem.

P.S. I come from one these third world countries, and have first hand knowledge of this.

P.P.S English is not my first language, even my second language. Sorry for any spelling, grammatical, or syntax errors.
