I appreciated the books and the 3rd movie is one of my favorite rainy day movies. There’s little to no woke-ism in the series and the 5th one is literally about armed schoolchildren kicking an oppressive government out of their school. It’s practically one of the most pro-second amendment children’s books out there without intending to be.

But the level of obsession some people take it to would make hardcore Star Wars and Nintendo fans blush. It really does feel like some of these people only read Harry Potter and based their entire worldview on their interpretation of the books. Several of them will vote based on how much the politician reminds them of characters.

It’s weird, man, I just have a bit of nostalgia around the books since I grew up with it, and I feel like the universe would make for a fun RPG, but that’s the extent of my enjoyment.
