Jail records show most arrested in Minneapolis riots have Minnesota addresses

I've seen this posted a couple times in this thread and find it interesting, because the protests in Selma were organized and led a great deal by MLK Jr. and others from outside of the city. So relating these events doesn't seem to match up to me since I have yet to see evidence proving that the current protests are being led by anyone but local groups working for social justice. In fact I don't see how it really even matters. Of course protesters from outside major cities will come to the city to take part in activities, the same reason they come to cities to go to a football game or a concert, that is where it makes sense to organize the events.

I am in no way saying that MLK Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference shouldn't have gone to Selma and help those people with their fight for equal rights, in fact I think it's the kind leadership we are largely lacking in the US right now which is one of the reason some of these protests are turning into violent riots involving looting.

But I don't understand why people are saying this is par for the course, seems incorrect given the incredible amount of work MLK did to travel the country and help cities he did not live in by showing local leaders what has worked elsewhere to fight for equal rights. I kind of think it's just off topic and a way to shift the conversation away from what we are doing, or asking to be done to fix the root issue.
