This is how I feel too. Actors are paid to act. Are we going to be as pedantic as demanding that any actor who plays a parent role must be a parent themselves off-screen? Your job is to get into a character role that is different to your real life.

I do understand the issue of actors of the wrong race being cast for a role, because race and looks are very visual and it does kill the immersion in the film or show, and you can also go into issues like blackface, but on sexuality I don't care.

I care more about if the role is good representation and imagery than about the actor playing it. For example I don't care for Call Me By Your Name. Not because of Armie Hammer playing an LGBT man, but because the film is just a horrible representation of pederasty to me and the optics are bad for gay men. We need to move away from that kind adult man-teen boy imagery.
