Japan plans to join the pack and ban sales of new gasoline cars by 2030

Yeah, because car companies and oil companies spent millions, probably billions, of dollars over decades trying not to invest in green technologies. Full electric cars only became a viable option in the past 5 years or so with chargin stations actual being available in most parking lots and shopping centers. And even then there’s really only a handful of full electric cars available. Companies continue to offer gasoline only cars, so that’s what’s available and that’s what people buy. It’s kind of ridiculous to just say “we could have been buying electric cars”. The technology wasn’t there for a long time because they didn’t want it to be. They had so much money invested in petroleum they wanted to wait until the last fucking minute to start R and D on better battery tech that can give comparable distance performance to gasoline cars and actually selling plug in electric cars. We have available to us only what corporations want there to be available.
