Japanese Culture has Something that feels off or Wrong About it

As someone who is part-Okinawan (an island that today is part of Japan, but culturally different, and was violently taken over by Japan), seeing people condense a country is quite concerning, especially a place that is so impossibly complex. All cultures and countries are complex, but Japan is especially interesting since modern, idealized, manga-esque Japan is so seamlessly removed from the Japan of World War 2. This denial seems to be a palliative so that people can forget that the country they idolize has committed horrific crimes, many to the point that they stick with me to this day and are absolutely terrifying to think about.

Japan, like most cultures/places, is very beautiful, rich, and unique, but it's straight up disrespect to ignore the way Japan has acted in the past.
