Jay Wilson on Twitter: "Sad to say after 10 of the best years of my life this will be my last week at Blizzard, and in the games industry."

I was thinking about some stuff after I posted the above comment and read through some links.

For argument sake, lets look at a couple things. Brevik came out in an interview and said he'd do things that the Diablo gaming base in the full glory of hind sight said. He turned his back on his old team that went into D3 and to some degree trashed on their accomplishments. That's a really shitty thing of Brevik to do. Stabbing your old friends in the back sucks.

Wilson, was all like, "fuck that loser" as he was defending his team and his team liked his comment. Someone posted the Facebook thread above where this whole comment came from.

Honestly, Brevik was an ass and FULLY deserved a "fuck that loser". And honestly, I think Wilson was right and it was not a public comment. It was a private thread between him and his coworkers and someone shared it out.

Brevik was a back stabbing ass and Wilson stuck up for his team.

The problem really came from Wilson's general disregard for Diablo feedback. The comment, although rightfully said, personified his attitude and will be remembered as his legacy.

I'd work with Wilson before Brevik. Wilson has his faults, but he is passionate, great vision, and you can trust him to back you up. He won't listen to the gamer base... but... It's hard to say Brevik would either. Brevik made D2 in a different time than Wilson made D3.

D2 came out in 2000. People bought a game, most played it alone, their own way. They bought a Diablo handbook and became immersed in their own world. There wasn't quite as many forums around back then. Definitely not like now.

D3 came out in, what 2014, forums all over the place, bunch of whiney fucks complaining about everything, feeling entitled to everything, meta builds on multiple websites, extensive analysis tools.

It would be interesting to see how things would have gone down if Brevik and Wilson some how cosmically switched spots and released their idea of the game. Going to D2 from D3 would have been a mess, people would have complained, and the question would be, how would Brevik stand up in that situation, especially with Wilson stabbing old friends and team members in the back publicly and undermining the team's accomplishments.
