To the Jehovah's Witnesses preaching in front of George R Brown...

The newsroom section of our site has many notes of helping those in need in the community and our brothers and sisters in time of need. Another reason we have magazines out at disaster sites, as we are possibly trying to still locate members or their families. The person will go to the people with the magazines; they know we will help them. In some countries, our donations have been so high to help our brothers, sisters and kingdom halls, the local people, donated half of the money to the local area! While people are posting how uncharitable they are, there are witnesses that have already had their houses cleaned out! We also take each other in. Complete strangers, but our brother or sister in the faith. It would be unusual for a brother or sister of the JW's to be stranded in the convention center. The greatest commandant of Jesus Christ is : To Love Thy Neighbor as Thy Self. So yes! Many people have benefited from our physical work. If I was stuck in that convention center with NOTHING to do with my mind but stress and worry, I would be grateful for reading material. There are human interest stories in every issue. The question really is this. Why are there members of ANY religion at all abandoned there? Why have their organizations not come to get them and house them? If all the religions on earth took the commandments to 'love one another' to heart, the place would already be half empty. I know this may seem hard to believe, but complete strangers pack up and come to help, clean and donate. And complete strangers say YES, I will take you into my home. We are Jehovah's people. We love others and our brothers and sisters. You are assuming the witnesses at the public cart have done NOTHING to help. I would find that very unlikely. That person was able to do that on that day. That does not mean tomorrow they will not be doing clean-up. We are NOT discouraged at all, EVER, to not donate to any charity of our choice. We do this without ever passing one collection plate. Most of the comments in this section of what we believe are false. I think you may be able to do some good if you go to church, and ask your congregation what all of you can do together. Maybe your pastor or priest or Rabbi, whomever is your representative, can go to the center and make an announcement that he or she would like to speak to all of the members of YOUR faith. Then the congregations can take in the people personally like we have. But most of those people are waiting for HOTEL money. Why? There must be tens of thousands of homeless church goers of many faiths. Take them in. If that is not possible, then take a box of toilet paper, foot, toiletries, sanitation supplies, pillows, garbage bags, books, magazines, radios, anything! Take the bible to action. Take that fact that you are a good person to action. Your accusation that the witnesses do not provide relief to all parts of the world is false. Kindly investigate this for yourself. I am sure you are a well meaning person! We are encouraged to help in our communities and we do!
