Jeremy Hunt considers barring walk-in patients from A&E | Society

I don’t think any of you understand the word effective. You mean efficient. It’s an effective triage system that sends people to pharmacists, GPs, OOH surgeries, minor ailment departments, nurse led walk in centres and calls out District Nurses based on urgency and type of symptom. Iv worked there and on any given day you take in a huge variety of calls consultation nhs with doctors nurses and paramedics on many calls where they have absolutely agreed with the outcomes.

The fact the system is designed to do this and does this makes it effective triage. This is in the thousands of patients daily. The way it’s designed to be super cautious when dealing with serious symptoms and recommends people attend Emergency departments or Ambulances is safety first - the patients still receive triage at ED, it’s just not as efficient as if every person had a personal on all doctor every minute of their day..

I don’t know how many times you actually used the service, but the fact you kept getting referred to your GP meant your symptoms were minor and did not require urgent attention. You just got triaged. You don’t even know how but complain it isn’t triage.
