Jesse Owens of USA after winning gold in Summer Olympics, Nazi Germany[1936]

I'm not a Hitler-apologist, but that isn't the case.

On the first day of the games Hitler only met and congratulated German winners. The IOC told him he had to congratulate every gold winner or none, so he chose none.

Jesse Owens was quite annoyed with people perpetuating the myth that Hitler had snubbed him.

"When I passed the Chancellor he arose, waved his hand at me, and I waved back at him. I think the writers showed bad taste in criticizing the man of the hour in Germany."

However, Reichsminister Albert Speer (Known as the "Nazi Who Said Sorry", because he claimed to have no knowledge of the final solution and donated a lot of money to Jewish Charities after the war) said Hitler

"was highly annoyed by the series of triumphs by the marvelous colored American runner, Jesse Owens. People whose antecedents came from the jungle were primitive, Hitler said with a shrug; their physiques were stronger than those of civilized whites and hence should be excluded from future games."
