Curious what other teams fans think of Quin Hughe’s defensive play? I see some comments saying he is “TERRIBLE” and “Can’t defend an average NHL player”. Is this a consensus though from other fans around the league?

He played very well defensively in his rookie season playing with a proper top 4 Dman in Tanev. However, took a big step back, along with the team, last year playing with the likes of Myers and Hamonic. Numbers don’t look good, but if your name isn’t Brock Boeser your numbers aren’t going to be good if you wore a Canucks jersey.

I know he isn’t great defensively but still has shown he can do it. Still super young so in theory he will only get better. His skating is top tier and has used that in the past to make up for some defensive gaffs and I am beyond stoked he’s a Canuck.

So are people just regurgitating what they’ve seen other people say online with some recency bias? Or is Quinn Hughes actually terrible defensively? He’s not good, but I feel he is far from terrible but that’s a bias opinion. For those who have watched more than a couple Canuck games last year, what are your thoughts?
