Jian Ghomeshi Verdict Megathread 2.0

I think the source is a tweet. The tweet says young man, so it must be true. Everyone knows being 25 years old makes you a young man.

But seriously, this sort of discourse is frustrating. I had to go fucking digging to find anything that even remotely fit the vague tweet and age ranges.

It could possibly reference ) who indicated his closeted feelings for 15-25 year old males.

Sheldon Kennedy who if I have mathed correctly would have been around 17 when the abuse started. I assume Fleury would have been around the same age.

Of course without the specifics of the case or the twitter user's grievance over due process or how the courts have worked or testimony or anything substantive I am now in the position to have a response like "nu-uh, I never said any of that, etc etc etc"

There might very well be a case of a 25 year old being abused by some coach, but it does not appear to be easily found via google. There is some argument I'm sure for looking at other cases, precedent set, etc. On the other hand in this proceeding against JG the judge likely had only the merits of the specific case to look against.

Assuming for a minute that the tweet is referencing Graham James, GJ pleaded guilty which changes a lot. He acknowledge that the accounts of abuse against Fleury which were revealed in a book were true. He was then brought into court later, as in after the publication of the book and acknowledgement that it's contents were true. The pleas sort of change the dynamic. Although despite the admitted pattern of abuse, a third set of abuse charges (from a 3rd accuser) were stayed when GJ refused to plead guilty to them.

And I again I stress, my entire post can literally be undone by the author of a vague tweet saying "I wasn't referencing that, I was referencing this other thing"
