ha! yeah, kudos for picking up the mantel. I have limited bandwidth, annd cant open link~ but... the "Delinquent/degenerate artists" [search wiki] of nazi germany were soooo courageous, and some of the most extraordinarily tbrilliant of their generation. kirchner, Beckmann, Klee all suffered profoundly under the SS and GP, as all their styles vehemently rejected the styles of realism/nationalism that essentially governed the next 50 years in political art.

the term "genius" is bandied around waayyyy too frequently, but those 3 in particular actually were~ special shout out to my main man paul klee, and also Kathe Kollowitz (reverential Bowing): she lost her child to war, and was grieved by war for the rest of her life... making just... the most haunting, tortured depictions of war. truly heart breaking. the Gestapo was incessantly threatening her.

another was claude cahun, stinningly brilliant, and hated by Breton of the surrealists, but he essentially needed her oritorical ability to validate surrealism's relevance to communism. she was sentenced to death for several surrealist anti-nazi campagns, including handing out arcade tokens to Nazis, that had anti-nazi propaganda written all over them. she was amazing.
