Except it never said that and that is not what happened. That first post that you are referring to (aka 'the guy' you replied to) was me and it was my post and it said:

I wrote that expecting that people would understand I was referring to Trump – who just spoke with Russia's Putin. But it was massively downvoted and many, including you, erroneously thought I was referring to Carter. I went to edit the comment and accidentally deleted it.

No sinister plot "knowing it would cause people to flip out further down the comment chain with no original context" involved.
