Jindai Island Part 2: Raid on the Island Whale!

Walking away from the man she'd defeated, there were a few people that crossed her mind. In that moment, Captain Gin was who she would've liked to see the most. Then, any of her crew members. Cadence, too. What she'd done to him hadn't felt right. His chances of survival were low, and though they were all fighters, and likely wouldn't understand her aversion to conflicting pain, she knew they'd at least listen to her... except maybe Decimus. Thinking of him in his tiara and bracers made her smile, at least. She blinked away her tears. Akito didn't even cross her mind until she heard him, but her heart lurched. He was okay! Or... was he?

He looked like he'd been through a lot, but they weren't the same wounds she'd healed for him before. She fussed over him a bit while they reconciled, bandaging and healing what she could. She was relieved. She'd thought, when he left, that he'd be fine... but actually seeing that he hadn't thrown himself on a cliff as soon as their backs were turned was a relief. She was about to offer to help him back to his ship when she heard the den den mushi ringing. She chewed her bottom lip. She should've gone through his coat!

"I see. So this is why my call went unanswered," his eyes flicked to the relatively uninjured Pan, assessing in a calculating way. He had multiple different weapons at his disposal... she hoped that meant he'd spread himself too thin, and wasn't capable in all of them. Being un able to heal gun shot wounds, she wanted to avoid that at all costs. His eyes landed on her wrist-mounted cross bow, seemingly understanding it was her who had taken out his comrade. "I will have to carry out his mission then, starting with your defeat."

"Geh!" Pan said, bracing. This guy looked strong. At her side Akito readied himself, and she was thrilled to be fighting alongside someone else, even if he wasn't a crew member, she felt she could trust him.

"Whenever you're ready Pan, I've got you covered," he said, firmly. Her eyes bubbled with tears that didn't fall.

"Ah, Akito is so kind... ah!"

The new guy was fast, he darted forward, aiming his attack at Akito. Pan dropped to the floor, instinctively, to avoid becoming collateral damage. Akito managed to hold the slash, but she could tell he wouldn't last long. She had 5 crossbow bolts, was uninjured, and her ability hadn't been used excessively. She was beneath the two men's crossed swords. Sparks from their weapons flew around her, singing her skin. She hissed in pain, and raised her wrist, aiming again for the same spot she'd started with on his friend, and fired.

It hit. It had to at such close range. Maybe she was a close range fighter after all. The man seemed surprised he'd been hit, turned his wild eyes towards her. He swung the hilt of his sword down towards her. She tried to dart out of the way, but she couldn't get quite get away fast enough. The hilt slammed on the meatier part of her calve muscle, and it split from the impact. The pain was extreme, but used the extra adrenaline to finish her dart through his legs and up to her feet behind him. She stood on her leg gingerly, and readied herself to use healing water to seal the bleeding split. She couldn't do anything for the damage inside other than relieve the pain just slightly, but she could keep going if she stopped the bleeding.

When he had angled the hilt down to hit her, his sword had gone wonky, and Akito had a chance to make a strike.
