Job in Bath, is living in Portland too far of a commute?

Hey there, I'm not frustrated. I feel like a lot of you are trying to put words into my mouth. I know what the drive is on google maps from Bath to Portland. I live in Hawaii, what you find online through research on the internet vs. what is really here is often different. No one tells you about the three hour grid lock traffic to go two miles into Kailua during tourist season. No one tells you anytime the President or VP comes to island H3 closes down and no one moves for 1-3 hours. Furthermore, this move is relatively new to us. I've spent a few hours on zillow and trulia. I've looked at rentals on Craigslist and have figured it'd actually be cheaper for us to purchase a home. I've read a few forums about cities in the area and have talked to friends who live there. Granted, I haven't spent hours researching- but I have seen the article you posted and since I was off tonight was hoping to learn something new. I was trying not to write a novella on what I had found and leave the discussion open. Instead, I have strangers questioning my finances. I know the market is at a peak, I am not looking for a get rich quick home. I am looking for something that will rent for what we pay on it. A 2-3 bedroom house or condo in the 200-400k range because it will be less expensive or the same as renting and we're putting equity into something.

If you're tired of this type of question or don't have anything to add- ignore it. I'm apart of subs where I see the same posts and if I don't feel like contributing, I don't.
