Is this a job interview...?

Yes. Job interviews have been soooo bizarre lately! Looking to broaden my horizons after 12 years... been on three interviews since December and all have been wildly different. First one had a room of people grilling me for 30 minutes and I didn’t feel it was a good fit for me in the end. Second one lasted 3 minutes and the only question the lady asked me was “tell me about yourself.” They already knew they wanted me for management instead but the salary wasn’t enough for the level of responsibility. Third one was about 10 minutes and 3 questions long and I got the job... not sure I’m liking the culture (too much micro-management throughout) so I’m looking again. I accidentally applied for a teacher’s aide position a few weeks ago (the school uses weird titles for everything but I figured it out after I applied). I didn’t bother finishing up with the application process but I still got a text message they want me for a job in a city about 40 miles away instead of the one 15 miles away... salary is roughly about $6 less per hour than what I make now plus a commute. Sadly, I had to pass on it. Honestly, if they really want you the formality rules go out the window from what I’ve experienced the past few months... I hadn’t been on an interview in over a decade and things are so different now.

At this point, I want to work somewhere with a good company culture that promotes work-life balance and then I’d be willing to take a reasonable pay cut if necessary. I’m a full time working mom so work-life means a lot to me right now, more so than money or a fancy title.
