Jobless Texans say Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to end federal unemployment benefits will worsen their already dire situations

So it adds up to something around 2k. 20% is best, but you can get in with 10%. So that means a 20k home.

Totally doable. There are several places in the US where that could get you a nice chunk of land, and not all of it terrible.

But if you are drinking starbucks every day you're not living in such a place and your skills would likely not be that tradable. Remote maybe, but those places also lack infrastructure so you'll probably have to go satellite.

I've given it some consideration. For the amount I paid for my home I could actually get some 40+ acres with a pretty nice, huge fucking house on it and say fuck y'all.

But then you have to look at who you'd live around. I grew up in rural area and it's just ... I don't even WANT to relate to most of them. I'm also weary of being surrounded by violent assholes who never WANTED to learn anything...much less know of what they speak and will kill to make sure you think too. It's a scary thought. Terrifying. I kinda want to leave.
