1) The Jones praise continued well into his first 12 months at United. Ferguson said the way he's looking at United so far he could be our best player ever. Managers often big up players but I've never heard someone go that far.

2) Smalling isn't great on the ball but he's improving and rapidly. He's made several great and comfortable runs forward this season. I will tell you Smalling had a solid season last year because I watched him every week. He was pretty ropey as usual for the first 3 months and then after the City redcard something in him changed. For the rest of 2014 he improved week on week and for all of 2015 he has been very good for us. We're delighted with him.

Yes Smalling would be playing if Rojo was fit and we had signed Ramos because Smalling is right footed and the other 2 are left footed. The reason LVG fell in love with Ramos is because he wants an elite left-footed guy and there's not many of them. As far as the fans, the manager and the club are concerned we have our long term right footed CB and it's Smalling. That is the reason Blind is playing CB, because Rojo isnt match fit and LVG wants a left footed guy in there with Smalling.

Maybe it was unncessary but with all due respect, mate, you're arguing with me about something you have little knowledge of. The Rojo and Ramos comment is a fine example of that. I'm not biased, I'll concede that Evans is not going to last here much longer, I'll concede that Jones is yet to look like the player we thought we signed 4 years ago and is developing very slowly but Smalling is great and if he works a little more on his ball control and passing he'll comfortably be in our backline for years to come.
