Joe Rogan Experience #1029 - Tom DeLonge

Stealing this comment to show what my wife has to say upon watching this for a while

There are positive and negative aspects of schizophrenia and one of them and one of them is to move and twitch a lot due the excitement of what you're about to say/do

my wife, a psychologist

He might have a delusional disorder. From the DSM: The presence of one or more delusions with the duration of 1 month more or longer. Criteria for schizophrenia has never been met. Apart from the impact of delusions or its ramifications, functioning is not markedly impaired and behavior is not obviously bizarre or odd.

I haven't listened to the whole podcast but I feel like he's said bizarre or odd things. Upon telling her she said maybe there is schizophrenia going on then. She's listening more and heard him say "You don't know what I know."

Let me explain what bizarre means in the context of psychology.

She's thinking...

If I had to diagnose him based on only this which is not ideal or accurate I would diagnose him with Delusional Disorder, Grandiose Type, with bizarre content. Basically means he has a delusional disorder where he believes he has all knowing information on a specific topic like aliens / space. Delusions are deemed bizarre when they are implausible or not understandable and are not derived from ordinary life experiences.

Does this mean I would diagnose everyone who believes in aliens with this? Absolutely not. But I am only (for entertainment purposes) saying thats what I'd diagnose him based on the information that I currently have, which is this conversation on the television right now.

Will keep updating.

This is very similar to Kanye West. In his mind he is an "all knowing being" in regards to music. No one else in the world can understand music like he does which causes him to act very odd and come off as an authoritarian figure in regards to music.
