John Carmack says he's not 'satisfied with the pace of progress' in VR development

I don't mind it's existence, so long as focus isn't taken away from traditional games as dev effort is put toward VR

And that's what I hate about this industry(and smartphone industry as well). Everyone is too quick to abandon their old ways even when they are perfectly sound ones. Remember when AAA's didn't do bullshit MTX? Fuck instant gratification.

And before the inevitable "have you tried it yet?". I play games that would see negligible improvements in interactivity or would have a really hard time transitioning into VR, and I'm not opposed to people enjoying it, I never am. Also you're sounding like a weed smoker with the "first experience is mind blowing" thing. Of course it is. It's something you've never experienced.
