John Clark’s 1on1 Interview with Howie Roseman About The Draft from Earlier Tonight (April 26)

This draft was a reaction, as Howie said, to the end of the last season and the couple seasons before.

We had a slow, old, team-- so they shed a few of the old guys and go all-in on speed.

An injury to the QB almost cost them in 2017, 2018, and in 2019. I don't think they view Carson as overly injury prone-- or else they wouldn't have signed him to the contract. I think they genuinely just value the backup QB position as they've said in the past and realize how important the position is and the fact that injuries happen at QB. Especially a team that's seen pretty much every position lose a key player the past couple seasons.

I also think it's hard to explain that with enough nuance to fans and the media without making it sound like you don't have faith in Carson.
