John Gruden hype thread

I'm really exhausted of this "only fire Pagano if it's a clear upgrade" stuff.

First off, Chuck was anything but a slam dunk candidate. The guy even said he was shocked to get a call for a HC position. There's literally only a couple candidates out there who I wouldn't go after over Chuck, one of them being Tom Cable. I'd take just about anybody else, Shanhan, McDaniels, Mike Smith, would've gladly taken the Panthers DC, Vance Joseph, the list goes on.

Secondly, I'm sure people said the same thing last year about only going after a clearly better option. Then again, we could've gone after a pretty solid young candidate in Adam Gase. Doug Pederson took the Eagles to 7-9 in a really tough division with a decent QB, he's no Luck though.

I'm no big Jon Gruden fan either but I do think he'd install the right offense for Andrew Luck. People can blame the OC's all they want but the one constant is Chuck and he has final say on their offensive scheme. He'd also help change, or revamp, the culture. The guy knows when to be stern, and as great a guy Chuck is, this team really could use some discipline.

Basically what it comes down to for me is that we've seen enough of Chuck to know what we're going to get. We're going to get a team that is only consistently prepared to play 30 minutes or football, unlike the 60 minutes Chuck keeps hoping for. A team that seems to need their back up against the walls to really play to their full potential. And that's really sad to me.
