John Oliver explains in detail how luxury, for-profit rehabs are ineffective scams that lack oversight. This applies to both drug rehabs as well as rehabs for trauma, depression, etc. I thought this video might give us some insight into why Catelynn and Ryan are still struggling post-rehab.

I understand what you are saying completely and also mostly agree. My point was that the John Oliver clip argues that those treatment centers have no oversight and the luxury ones/regular overcharge insurance companies and people have now way of knowing if they are actually effective long term or not or if they use evidence based therapy. The whole point was that those places can be really really horrible and people can end up dead as a result. So the fact that she keeps going back makes it seem like she doesn't have a strong out patent treatment plan in place and that she's not following through on the plan or that she's not getting the help she actually needs.

I actually believe that out patient therapies are better in certain situations. Obviously, her being suicidal she should go somewhere but she could have gone into any hospital with a psych ward and been put on a hold to stay for 3-5 days until she's not a threat to herself and then find a treatment center in her area or even a few hours away since she doesn't actually work and gone there so she can work on her issues in her environment. I actually think for her that would be best because it would force her to do something and keep a routine in her environment so she doesn't give into the depression and sleep all day and not leave the house.

My issue is that she's had all these mental health issues for years but wasn't even seeing a psychiatrist, if I remember correctly she was getting her anti depressants from her OBGYN (I could be wrong) and was only seeing that shitty therapist. The only good thing about her going away was her straightening out her med situation.

I mean if she gets it together thats great but I mean in the past her way of continuing therapy was buying a horse and I honestly don't believe that horse is going to cure her maladaptive coping mechanisms but if does then good for her...
