I haven’t seen the game yet as I was umping last night so don’t know the context. It is unprofessional and at the mlb level there is no place for that. However every coach I’ve ever thrown out of a game ahas been like a huge weight being lifted. If a coach comes out cool I have no problem giving an explanation for every call I make or if I miss one I’ll apologize to the coach and let them know I missed it and 95% of the time it’s fine. However, when a coach comes out acting like a huge dick fuck him he’s gone and it’s super satisfying and makes me happy. Umps get more disrespect than any other job I’ve ever worked and I’ve had some pretty degrading jobs working for or dealing with the bottom of the barrel in terms of the general public. RN at least where I live there is an ump shortage. We’ve had to cancel several middle and high school level games because we don’t have umpires. Im burnt I’ve worked 7 nights a week since March because the shortage. Many of the newer umps I’ve trained this year get really discouraged and often quit due to the way they are often treated by coaches & fans. With that said so far the small sample size of mlb umps I’ve watched this year has been pretty bad..
