Also, boxing to MMA is not the apples to apples comparison everyone seems to think it is. The business models are completely different and the way the purses are constructed for boxing is completely different. The UFC is more like the WWE than boxing. There is a bidding process in boxing. Also the promoters are in some ways competing with each other. The UFC has exclusive deals with the talent on a per match basis like pro wrestling companies do. It’s just not the same business despite the sports being relatively similar.

Note: I’m not addressing the merits of whether fighters should be paid more. Just pointing out we should stop acting like square pegs go in round holes. The UFC should be free to structure their business however they want and fighters should be free to contract with whatever business they want.
