Jon Stewart: It is not OK to shoot people you disagree with.

Firechief in my town was denied a NJ Firearms ID because 20 years ago when his mother passed away and he was in high-school, the school made him meet with the guidance councilor and the police took this as talking to a mental health worker which you have to say if you have ever talked to one and is almost instant denial for a FID. He spent a decent amount of money and over a year fighting it and was eventually allowed a FID.

So the person in charge of saving peoples lives, who has a township issued vehicle with lights and sirens can't own a firearm? In NJ you have to submit a forum called Check for Mental Health Consent forum which dissolves any patient to practitioner rights you have and you can and usually do in most townships be denied for mentioning any mental illness you think you might have to your GP, most towns deny you if you take ADHD medicine too.

It is a slippery slope with mental illness because most of the time, depression is short term, mentioning you think you have ADD probably shouldn't be a reason for denial.
