Why do you have to downvote me for simply discussing this with you?

I don't feel like your examples really answer my question. You're assuming someone else said they're not Metis if they are factually Metis. Does that student who is Metis get to decide if they are or aren't?

Like honestly I do not care to have this conversation. I personally am not ever going to argue these identity semantics with someone. I'm not going to claim to understand what it must feel like to not have your pronouns match up with your sex and gender. I have trans people in my life and I fully respect, value, and honour their choice to identify with what they view as their proper identity. But those identities this far have been largely binary: male or female. Him or her. But I as an individual would be uncomfortable to address someone as xe or xer, and I reserve the right as an individual with my own value system to not personally use these words. It has absolutely nothing to do with the other person. But I am not going to be compelled to do something I'm boy comfortable with. That has nothing to do with anyone other than me and my choices. It does not in any way reflect on the identity, values, or choices of the other person. Does that make sense?
