Jose Mourinho close to completing a 45m deal for Fabinho

Mourinho will be determined not to let another massive target join Manchester City after Pep Guardiola worked fast and secured a deal for Bernardo Silva.

He was irreplaceable in Monaco’s march to the Ligue 1 title and helped the side get through to the Champions League semi-finals.

Fabinho may be the defensive midfielder Mourinho is looking for to play alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba at Man United, especially after the side secured their way straight into the Champions League group stages.

With Marouane Fellaini currently Mourinho’s only option as Michael Carrick approaches the end of his footballing career, Mourinho will be looking to add depth to the midfield, especially after selling Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton.

He’s also very versatile and can play full-back or wing-back which will be a very powerful tool as Mourinho rotates his squad and changes formations to challenge for silverware on different fronts.

Fabinho’s role would allow Pogba to pull the strings in midfield without having to worry about running back constantly, even though we’ve seen that he’s capable of doing so.

He would be a brilliant addition at United, and with the Old Trafford club currently favourites to land his services it’ll be a massive boost for the side.
