Joseph Smith vs Other Historical Figures

Yeah I had similar thoughts right before I commissioned in the Navy. In the military you give an oath that you are willing to die in the defense of the Constitution. This guy me hard, especially as things are heating up in the South China Sea. A few Captains and an Admiral I've spoken with are concerned to say the least.

My distrust in JS made me revaluate how I respected the founding fathers and more importantly the Constitution. Since I am now weary of common arguments as justifications used for one are used for the other to justify misreads.

Honestly I do not understand what is different between the two. I'm an currently atheist, but the Constitution gives a compelling argument for Divinity. If you look at the BOM, it Ironically did what it was made to do, make a hell of a lot of money. It allowed for racism, for sexism, and a theocracy that has an incredible ability to keep people under their thumb.

The Constitution, however, even though it was written in the era of the white, straight, wealthy man, it's simple language allowed for freedom of slaves, women's suffrage, freedom for all sexual orientations and wealth classes. Obviously the implementation is still a work in progress, but allows for those freedoms to emerge.

So when I see founding fathers, I see imperfect heros. When I see Joseph Smith, I see an imperfect con man.
