Josh Trank on why he quit the Boba Fett movie

I like it, I think on it's own it works, its a movie with seemingly questionable plot lines that were intentionally questionable and didn't lead to anything that affected the story to subvert your expectations for what was gonna happen next and were also just cool world-building settings to goto and it upset people that they didn't go anywhere for the sake of subverting them.

But another thing that upset people was that if it wasn't supposed to link to someone's established creation and characters it would work for whoever it works for, but as far as representing the characters George Lucas made, it isn't being true to them purely for the sake of subverting expectations. See all of Mark Hamills interviews about TLJ for more info as to why which he is adamant about Lukes character he and Goerge made but he did it anyway because he respects that Disney bought the rights and was making something that was set out to do just that.

The Sequel Trilogy is akin to if Peter Jackson bought the rights to Tolkiens characters and the world and continued the story but rejected a story given to him by Tolkien that was just never published. It could 100% work for a lot of people but a lot of people would outright reject it if he did something surprising and different but didn't stay true to what Tolkien himself had in mind, even if it worked on its own to people
