It's fucked up that you think rape is just "drunkenly being a college student." Like you register for courses "I'll take econ, intro to architecture, Greek History, ah fuck it, add on some raping too, that's part of the full experience right?"

He wasn't convicted of being a drunk college student. I'm sure many of us managed to get drunk in college with no rapes.

Getting drunk isn't an excuse for any behavior, even if it serves as an explanation.

At best, being drunk might excuse a bit of unpleasant oration, but you still suffer the social consequences. It certainly shouldn't excuse violent crime, otherwise a case of beer would be a blank check for all manner of robbery, theft, murder, rape, etc.
