I judged to soon

Their are three reasons I am not a fan of the iphone. The first and biggest one is that they are fragile. Buying a case is a necessity when you own an iphone and I hate cases. I like to feel the hardware I spent my hard earned money on not a cheap plastic case. BlackBerry makes its phones to last for years and they can take a beating.

Secondly I can't remember numbers. Because of this I keep very sensitive data on my phone. Stuff I probably shouldn't keep on my phone. I am also a huge tech nerd and know a lot about technology and security. BlackBerry 10 devices are the only devices on the market that I can't crack in an hour with my desktop. Its also the only device that a cellbrite device can't steal data from. So it's the only device I trust with this data.

Third iphones are great app portals but suck at everything else. It's cool being able to run every app under the sun but I also need a phone with a USB mass storage mode and a file manger. It sounds stupid but my BlackBerry is actually my tech tool belt. I have distros and diagnostic tools on my ssd. I use them to fix people's computers and save my ass when I fuck up with mine (I like to tinker). The file manager is amazing on BlackBerry 10. I never had a phone that made it so simple to transfer files between my computer and phone. I have a pretty big lossless and PDF archive that I am always switching out content from my mac to my phone. BlackBerry 10 just makes it really easy.

Also this isn't so much a flaw with an iphone but a personal preference. I have come to hate apps. Until I got my BlackBerry I liked them. I would always take my phone and try the latest apps and games in my spare time. I got a BlackBerry on a whim and when I didn't have apps I discovered I am a way more productive person. Instead of playing a game on my commute I will write a short story. When I am on the pot I organize my email now instead of fucking around with a new app. I am communicating better and feel better now that I don't have apps as a distraction in my life.

It sounds a bit silly but when you really think about apps don't do anything worth while. They just take you out of the now and put you in a virtual place. Those places don't have any real value your not going to grow as a person because of the latest app. I do grow as a person through my writing and I learn through my research. Those things actually help me improve myself. Now I can do those things on iphone or android. But I was never force with reality that those where the only things I could do in my free moments. Now I discovered those are the things that I actually want to do. Beating a game is not as satisfying for me as writing a story or finishing up research on the mantis shrimp. ( if you don't know what they are they are super BA look them up) With out the little distractions of apps I am actually working on a novel. Not sure it will be any good but its something I have always wanted to do. (and I am typing it on my BlackBerry) So I have no desire to go back to an app centered mobile experience. BlackBerry 10 is about communication and productivity and I like that.

Lastly the HUB is so damn amazing it has actually made me communicate with my friends and family more lol.
