Judges give longer sentences when their home teams lose a game. In particular to black defendants.

I dont know much about the area and am mostly hoping that someone with more AI knowledge can comment, but I believe that unsupervised networks which dont require human input with regard to associations of inputs and outputs (inputs perhaps being race, crime conducted, background and outputs being likelihood of committing additional crime and subsequent recommendation for sentencing).

A network like that may be able to assess for itself what parameters including race and socioeconomic status result in certain risk levels.

If it really is the case that certain races are more inclined to commit crime (which i really hope is not true) given that factors like socioeconomic status are controlled for, the algorithm should then know in theory.

Hopefully someone with machine learning background can comment on the validity of a network like that.
