Julian Assange has a carefully timed interview this Saturday, which has the feeling it's designed to shift the course of the election.

Some things I can think of * I have serious doubts about if he will actually do any of it when he's elected (even if he's not stopped by the legislature), but, Trump has presented himself as an isolationist. Assange is some kind of libertarian and his interests in seeing a more isolationist US state align with Russia's.

  • Assange I think feels betrayed by 'establishment liberals' or defines himself against them, has a dislike of mainstream liberal US politicians and personally of Clinton (her drone comment), Obama also launched a crackdown on whistleblowers and various other anti free information measures after hinting the opposite.

  • There is a tendency to for people who are closer in political alignment to magnify differences compared to 'the other side', perhaps this has meant that it is more apt to criticise Clinton than attack Trump.

  • Trump has presented himself as 'anti-establishment' (I mean I think he is culturally but his policies won't be) and Assange is also anti-establishment.
