Jumpstart would be a perfect set type for a return to Alara

Can someone(s) explain to me what their appeal for Jumpstart is, please?

My wife and I tried playing it in the original JS set and didn't care for it at all. The idea of mashing two almost-decks together for a quick game sounded fun, but we found that the synergy was almost non-existant with each deck we built. The games felt like it was a waiting game for a combo or tribal synergy to happen, but more often we just waited for someone to draw a decent creature to score enough damage. The whole experience was bland.

As for the long-term, the cards we opened were nothing spectacular for our future deckbuilding, so they all basically got put away for good in our boxes of chaff.

Are we alone in this viewpoint? What are other people's experiences?
