Jurassic Park. Why do I find it so boring?

The CGI is probably a big part of it... At the time this came out in 1993, it was astounding. Now the CGI is kinda run of the mill and the animatronics aren't great - the raptors in the kitchen look pretty fake.

This is coming from someone who saw the movie in the theater on its initial run and LOVED it. But I was also 12 and the only other movie with that much CGI at the time was Terminator 2.

The movie also strips down a lot of the plot, commentary and suspense elements from the book and especially the gore - in an attempt to get the kid friendly PG rating. Spielberg was right to do it that way, after all kids and dinosaurs is where the money is. But the book is 100x better and still worth reading IMHO if you didn't enjoy the movie.

I still like the movie a lot now, but some of that is nostalgia. It's a fair criticism that the movie kinda falls apart in the second act and the characters become props to throw dinosaurs at. Still fun as hell though especially with the sound turned up to get that epic John Williams score.
