Jury duty excuse denial (graduate student) KY

Talk to your professors about having to serve saying your request was denied. You can also typically postpone your jury duty to a time that works better for you (up to 3 times I think and the first time it’s like up to 6 months). I postponed the maximum told the judge my situation (I was a student about to graduate with loans need a job) she wasn’t understanding but told me to tell the secretary to postpone within the year.... I explained my situation the secretary told me that actually since I already showed up if I sit for another 3 hours and don’t get called for a case again I’ll be dismissed. So I sat and was dismissed.

I’ve heard of people trying to schedule around holidays (maybe thanksgiving or Christmas) not sure how well this works maybe someone else can weigh in. I would recommend dressing appropriately, don’t act racist (they know these tricks) and do as the above person said. Actually a friend of mine was dismissed cuz he kept asking for a specific percentage as to what “beyond a reasonable doubt” meant... is it 55% 60% how should he judge that? amongst other things and highlight your biases that you might have (ie: family member of mine is a doctor it was a drug case..., he said he sees this all the time and that the drug user is clearly guilty... dismissed). Sometimes if it’s a long case the judge will also ask if there are any students in the room and you will be excused.
