Just became a new home owner on the 16 of this Month and I’m already retexturing and painting.

  1. Knockdown all the way. Don't listen to the "smooth/flat" people in this thread. On older homes that's only going to show the flaws in the original drywall and taping work. I wouldn't do orange peel personal, but it's still better than flat.
  2. Good idea doing the garage epoxy before you move in. It is next to impossible to do once you're settled.
  3. Also good idea painting before everything gets moved in, but remember to overbuy the paint so that you can cover any nicks or dings that can (and do) happen during move-in.
  4. If you're going to do carpet, wait until you're done painting. That way you only really need to worry about taping trim. But definitely do a carpet replacement before you move in.
  5. Everything else can wait.
