Next time just say, No thanks. You don’t need to explain your personal reasoning for not attending without being asked, too.

The way you responded comes off conceited, and would encourage that type of response from someone who doesn’t operate the same way you do. While you feel you were just being honest - you kinda come off looking like an asshole.

I don’t say any of this to offend. This is me too being honest. We’re logical and tend to over explain our logic sometimes. Especially when we’re younger figuring out how the world works and the people in it.

You likely could have avoided the situation. Going forward, know it’s better to diverge less information to others than overwhelming them with thoughts and opinions - unless you’re asked to explain yourself. You’ll get the hang of this as you get older.
