I just browsed an LGBTQ Christian community. After reading a bunch of posts and comments I feel equal parts encouraged and horrified.

The Bible itself condones slavery and religion was used heavily to control their slaves.

I've never been a Christian myself, but Christianity itself isn't really racist (certainly not in a white folks / black folks sense).

(If you want to talk about

*"The OT says that we should discriminate against Amalekites,

and the NT says that we should discriminate against Samaritans"*,

okay - but those aren't really important social issues in the modern world.)

People used the Bible to argue for enslaving Black people

(and other people used the Bible to argue against enslaving Black people ),

but you can use the Bible to argue for or against anything.
