Just finished Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 for the first time over two weeks, some impressions.

Just to be clear. I do not judge a video based on the quality of a creator's voice, but mainly on a clean presentation (no awkward dead silences, shaking handheld camera, or harsh audio glitches) and the quality of the creator's ideas presented in a succinct focused manner.
.
If the above criteria is met, then the video itself could just be a simple slideshow or captured images slowly zoomed in on, as the creator speaks, and I would still watch and find it enjoyable/worthwhile.
.
Final comment: some aspects of the Souls series seem weak (or maybe appear to be lacking) because they do not support the main ways to play: 1 Solo quest (the person just trying to advance to the next boss or bonfire and, essentially, beat the game), 2 Explorer/Collector/Farmer (the player trying to grind/farm materials and drops or just explore and collect many of the shiny scattered items to read the various descriptions or just to have them), 3 co-operative multiplayer (phantoms seeking to help other players), 4 competitive multiplayer (phantoms seeking to harm either the host, other phantoms, or both. Note: I use the word "competitive" not to mean "professional competitive sport/scene," but simply to indicate "competing interests." Side point: in Demon's Souls, invaders could actually kill every enemy mob in the level, basically, clearing the world/area for the host and then leave. On the Atlus form, which was popular before Dark Souls Reddit existed, it was not uncommon to hear reports of invaders doing so, lol).
.
The point is: there are many ways to play. The Souls series, to me, is not so much characterized by punishing difficulty, but rather by the freedom afforded players to explore and the many useful tools presented players, if they are willing to go in their bottomless box and have a look, when confronted with challenges. The strength of the Souls series are elements (challenges, enemies, and areas) which are best understood in light of these 4 main ways of playing. I hope that makes sense.
.
Besides some side quests (the music box and Father Gascoigne's daughter, Stockpile Thomas' and the jade hair ornament, Quelana's quest) and some memorable but brief interactions with notable characters (Maiden Astraea, Garl and Selen Vinland, Artorias, Sif, Navlaan, Irina and Eygon) I honestly didn't find much of the character's dialog or main story to be particularly compelling. Yet, video creators have spent considerable time analyzing even the tiniest details of the Souls series in light of the lore (while numerous critics have described the Souls' gameplay and specifically the online features as "groundbreaking," and "innovative," has the Souls series lore and manner of story telling been seriously hailed as "groundbreaking"...... (maybe it has). Nevertheless, I find it sad that many of the vocal (but misguided) commentators, reviewers, and critics seem unable to grasp, and unwilling to consider, how specific mechanics, enemies, and areas of the Souls series work best when they support the 4 main ways of playing. Everything from bonfire placement to the health of a boss, the implications of being either human or hollow, as well as the "sin"/absolution mechanic, influence the gameplay for questers, explorers/collectors/farmers, co-operators, and invaders, too.
