Just finished Inventing Anna - not sure why she was victimised so much? And why other characters stuck by her?

i think we’re reading it wrong. its not about Anna and who she is. it’s about what Anna represents. Think about it. What did the journalist gain from covering Anna? her goal to save her career. What did the lawyer gain? clients, literally. They put their own desires first, they decided to do those because of their own selfish reasons.

It honestly reminds me of the devil. Everyone who has heard of the devil knows how he is described to be evil, period. Yet, the devil can grant people’s desires and wishes and there are everyday stories/whispers of people selling their souls to the devil. Whether you believe in Christianity or not, most people know the devil is the complete opposite of good, ill intentions. Yes, the devil is a manipulator.

Again, i dont see how Anna wasnt manipulating any of these people. Knowing you can’t afford to pay for hotels, so you LITERALLY never leave the hotels premises, all to give the impression of a lifestyle that the people around you want and desire (which she consciously knows). she is a manipulator and the only time she was honest was when she called herself a player. She is a player and she lost.

This is just my opinion.
