My top rec is go to Noisey/Vice/Vox/the like’s social media pages and reach out more directly. Also while you’re there, go thru those outlets follows and find the people that those site would have had as your potential audience anyway and reach out to THEM directly. Pitchfork and similar sites accept placement submissions iirc, I would say create or commission some sort of noticeable blog type post about your Doc to send. Be prepared to distribute it yourself if you don’t get the festival or online placement you’re hoping for, so a good online hub of those same posts, trailers, songs, etc of your own that you could easily link out would be a nice ace to have.
