I just finished my first draft of my first novel. I believed in myself and I believe in you too.

I'm not exactly sure why you are being such an asshole here. Sure, a first draft is relatively small in the grand scheme of things but it's still a personal goal. OP clearly seems to have worked hard for it and overcome many personal obstacles. To you, the advice may seem simple but there are a lot of aspiring writers struggling to pen to paper or complete their first drafts. To them, reading an experience of someone who has been through something similar can be an eye opener or ignite a spark inside them.

The fact that you linked to your own post in r/writingcirclejerk as a response to this makes it look even worse. Find the advice too simplistic? Fine but there's no need to belittle the guy and make him feel down about his own achievement.
