Just finished reading the manga, someone help.

Natsuo was able to write again because of Togen, Hina had nothing to do with it. Natsuo was inspired to become a writer because of his mother, Hina had nothing to do with it. Natsuo learned the skills of being a writer from kirya and his editor (forget his name), Hina had nothing to do with it. Natsuo learned how to research and develope a story from Togen, Hina had nothing to do with it.

Natsuo first work was about the pain of love lost (his book after Hina left), it was his final stage (acceptance) in grieving the loss of Hina. Rui and his editor helped him write it.

Natsuo's second book was about protecting the one you love, it was about him taking the knife for Hina.

Natsuo's third book was the completion of Togen-Sensei's work. Hina giving him back his blank paper was meaningless, had she not kept it, had she not given it back to him, he still would have completed Togen-Sensei's book.

Books four through ten or fifteen (Sasuga is vague on the exact number) are written while Hina is comatose. Natsuo lives day to day with Rui and then Haruka.

Had Hina never accepted his advances and become his girlfriend, he STILL would have become an author, she did nothing to advance his career, other than be the pain and suffering he wrote about. Without her, his first couple books would have been different. Perhaps he would have written about being stranded in the snow, almost dying and being rescued by an old couple at an inn. But the fact is, he has the raw tallent, he would have found subject material in whichever path his life took. With or without Hina. She is completely irrelevant to his career.
