Just found out that my wife and I will have to leave the UK

He is Polish, his wife is from the Philippines, the ship he works on is registered to Singapore and his contract is Norwegian... but they live in the UK. He makes sure he is at sea for 6 months a year, because that means they won't have to pay any income tax. If you aren't contributing then I can't see why you should be allowed to stay. His wife still lives in the UK full time, but the household still won't pay ANY tax if she doesn't work.

I live in China so I pay my tax here and I have to have a visa to be here. If I wasn't under a Chinese employment contract and I wasn't paying tax here then they wouldn't allow me to stay and why should they? They want people to come who will benefit their country and the very least you have to do is chip in to the running of things you use in that country by paying tax. Also OP has already stated on this post that he is looking to move to Spain, because they won't have to pay income tax there either. Seems like they got used to being on £100k+ per year with no deductions and now don't want to pay income tax like everyone else has to.
