I had Paraguard. I had a nightmare experience. About 2 1/2 years in an awful smell and discharge started. It smelled like the decomposing carcass of a rat. I had all the tests done you could think of and they found nothing. Not even BV. They didn't know what it was and refused to take it out and said it wasn't causing the smell.

I finally went to a doctor (Indian woman) and she told me, of course it's causing the smell and I have a foreign object in my body and she took it out for me and the smell was gone within 48 hours. I asked to have the IUD in a plastic bag. It looked disgusting. Only maybe half the coils remained. They looked corroded and rusted and the smell from the actual IUD was immense.

My sister got an IUD shortly after me and had this same exact issue at almost the same exact timeframe!
