The problem with Gini is that his numbers have gradually regressed in almost all repects from his season in Newcastle, his first season here, and this season.

He obviously can't hide his abject goals/assists contribution, so I decided to look up his defensive/passing contribution instead, in the hopes of defending him in that regard. Turns out his defensive numbers (tackles/interceptions) this season are worse than last season's and only marginally better than his Newcastle season.

His passing stats are mixed, his accuracy has gone up, but he is attempting less passes per game, while his key passes have dried up.

In a way, I think Gini has massively regressed (and this is coming from someone who was trying to defense him), which is worrying when he is supposedly in his prime. His goals have deserted him, while his defensive numbers have dropped. The eye test doesn work when he is invisible, while the stats say the same.
